Reports

The simplist way to get data out of your database application is to just look at the table data. A little better is to use a query with criteria to filter the results. Printing these results can be problematic because the width of the query may be wider than your printer can handle. A better way to get information out of your database is to create reports.

Reports can be simple tabular in form similar to the tables where they are stored, or they can be very complex and sophisticated. Based on queries containing related tables and criteria to filter the data, they can give results based on data contained in a variety of related tables.

Reports may be addressed envelopes, mailing labels, lists with pictures, or vendor catalogs on the web to mention just a few.
