sc2tog: Single Crochet 2 Together: The single crochet two together decrease (sc2tog) is a basic decrease stitch that helps shape your project by removing stitches from your pattern. It is used in everything from sweaters to hats to bags.
Step 1: Insert your crochet hook into the next stitch in the row.
Step 2: Yarn over
Step 3: Pull the yarn through the stitch on your crochet hook. You should now have two stitches on your crochet hook.
Step 4: Insert your crochet hook into the next stitch in the row.
Step 5: Yarn over.
Step 6: Pull the yarn through the first stitch on your crochet hook. You should now have three stitches on your crochet hook.
Step 7: Yarn over.
Step 8: Pull the yarn through all three stitches on your crochet hook.
Instructions
- Foundation Chain: Multiple of 2 sts + 1. Add 1 for base chain.
- Row 1 (Wrong Side): 1sc into 2nd ch from hook, *1ch, skip 1ch, 1sc into next ch; rep from * to end, turn.
- Row 2: 1ch, 1sc into 1st st, 1ch, sc2tog inserting hook into each of next 2 ch sps, 1ch, *sc2tog inserting hook 1st into same ch sp as previous st then into next ch sp, 1ch; rep from * ending 1sc into last st, skip tch, turn.
- Row 3: 1ch, 1sc into 1st st, *1ch, skip 1ch, 1sc into next st; rep from * to end, skip tch, turn.
- Repeat rows 2 and 3 until you have reached your desired length.
