Twin Textures Pillow :Basket Weave , Panel A
Skill Level: Intermediate
Finished Size: 18½ Inches square
Gauge: 7 sts = 4" across in basketweave stitch.
Materials:
- Red Heard Sweet Home yarn (100% polyester, 10.5 oz/300 g 193 yd/177 m)
1 skein each in 1514 Spruce (CA) and 9680 Rain Forest, or approximately 193 yd in each of 2 colors in any super bulky weight yarn. (Bernat Blanket is a good substitute if you can't find Sweet Home.) - US N/P 15/10 mm crochet hook, or size needed to obtain gauge.

- Panel A
- With CA, ch 32 (or a multiple of 8 sts, + 8).
- Row 1: Turn, skip 3 ch (counts as dc), dc in next ch and each ch across. (30 sts)
- Row 2: Turn, ch 3 (counts as dc, here and throughout), *FPdc around each of next 4 sts,** BPdc around each of next 4 sts; repeat from * across, ending last repeat after ** with 1 st remaining, dc in last st.
- Row 3: Turn, ch 3, *BPdc around each of next 4 sts,** FPdc around each of next 4 sts; repeat from * across, ending last repeat after ** with 1 st remaining, dc in last st.
- Row 4: Repeat Row 2.
- Row 5: Repeat Row 3.
- Row 6: Repeat Row 3.
- Row 7: Repeat Row 2.
- Rows 8-9: Repeat Rows 6-7.
- Rows 10-25: Repeat Rows 2-9, changing to CB in last yo of last dc of final Row, continue on to Panel A Border. Panel A Border
- Round 1: (Right Side) Turn, ch 1, sc in same st and in each st across, turn to work along side, ch 2, sc in side of each row (or, work 25 sc evenly across), turn to work along foundation chain, ch 2, sc in unworked side of each ch, turn to work along side, ch 2, sc in side of each row (or, work 25 sc evenly across), ch 1, sc to first sc to join (counts as second ch in ch-2 sp). (110 sts + 4 ch-2 sp)
- Round 2: Ch 1, sc in same ch-2 sp, *scBL in each st across to next ch-2 sp,** (sc, ch 2, sc) in ch-2 sp; repeat from * around, ending last repeat after ** at first ch-2 sp, sc, ch 1, sc to first sc to join (counts as second ch in ch-2 sp). (118 sts + 4 ch-2 sp) Repeat Round 2 until Panel A measures approximately 18” (46 cm) square. Fasten off.
- With CB, ch 31 (or a multiple of 2 sts, + 1).
- Row 1: Turn, skip 1 ch, *sc in next st, dc in next st; repeat from * across. (30 sts)
- Row 2: Turn, ch 1, starting in first st,*sc in next st, dc in next st; repeat from * across.
- Repeat Row 2 until Panel B measures the same length as Panel A before the Border, changing to CA in last yo of last dc of final Row. Repeat Border as for Panel A. Assembly and Finishing
- Position Panel A and Panel B with Right Sides together. Working on the Wrong Sides and using a long strand of yarn (approximately 6 yds/5.5 m long) and yarn needle, whipstitch Panel A and Panel B together on 3 sides, leaving the bottom (foundation chain) unjoined (see Pattern Note).
- With yarn needle, weave in ends.
- Insert pillow form inside of pillowcase.
