Fabulously Festive Christmas Stockings

Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn in 6 colors. Approximately 120 yards of the main color and small amounts of the rest.
Yarns used in examples:
Blue/green stocking: CA – Red Heart Shimmer in Ivory. CB – Caron Simply Soft in Blue Mint. CC – Vickie Howell Sheep(ish) in Robin Egg(ish). CD – Lion Brand Tweed Stripes in Lakeside. CE – Caron Simply Soft Party in Spring Sparkle. CF– Caron Simply Soft in Cool Green
Pink/orange stocking: CA – Red Heart Shimmer in Ivory. CB – Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in Radiant Orange. CC – Lion Brand Jamie in Peachy (2 strands held together). CD – Lion Brand Tweed Stripes in Luau. CE – Caron Simply Soft in Watermelon. CF – Caron Simply Soft Party in Fuchsia Sparkle. - Size H (5mm) & F (4mm) hooks
- Yarn needle for finishing
Abbreviations, Notes and Tips:
- pf – puff stitch
- dc2tog – 2 double crochets together (decrease)
- FO – finish off
- CA- Color A (main color) CB, CC, CD, CE,CF – Color B,C,D,E,F
- Notes:
- This pattern is worked in joined rounds (except for the heel which is done in 5 easy rows). Join at the end of each round, when the pattern says to. You will need to finish off after most rounds (where the pattern says to) to change colors. I recommend weaving your ends in as you go or you will end up with a lot of ends when you’re done! ;)
- You will be starting at the toe and working up to the top.

- row 3: turn & ch 3 (counts as 1 dc). 1 dc in ea of the next 6 sts. dc2tog twice. 1 dc in ea of the next 7 sts. (16 dc)
- row 4: turn & ch 3 (counts as 1 dc). 1 dc in ea of the next 5 sts. dc2tog twice. 1 dc in ea of the next 6 sts. (14 dc)
- row 5: turn & ch 3 (counts as 1 dc). 1 dc in ea of the next 4 sts. dc2tog twice. 1 dc in ea of the next 5 sts. (12 dc)
- row 6: (aka rnd 15:) Work 10 sc into the side of the double crochets as shown at right.
- Continue working around the previous round, making 1 sc in ea st as shown below until you get back around to the other side of the heel. (There will be a total of 38 sc made so far, including the 10 in the side of the heel).
- Work 10 sc into the side of the double crochets as shown at right. (48 sc)
- sl st to join to the beginning of the rnd (where the arrow is pointing). FO leaving a long tail to stitch heel shut. See illustrations below.
- To stitch the heel shut, turn it inside out and use your yarn needle to sew up the hole.
- rnds 16-25: rep rnds 6-14
- rnd 26: rep rnd 10
- rnds 27-34: rep rnds 6-13 (don’t FO rnd 34) With CA:
- rnds 35-38: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc). 1 dc in ea st. sl st to join. (48 dc)
- rnd 39: Work this rnd in back loops only: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc). 1 dc in ea st. sl st to join. (48 dc)
- rnds 40-43: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc). 1 dc in ea st. sl st to join. (48 dc)
- Invisible join & FO after rnd 43 (shown at right)
- ch 30. 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in ea ch. FO leaving a tail for attaching to the stocking.
- Fold the loop in half and use your yarn needle to sew it to the inside of the stocking.
