Celtic Knot Pin
Skill Level: Confident Beginner
Finished Size: approximately 2½"
Pin back (circle with 10 points) = approx. 2 1/2? in diameter
Materials:
- Sinfonia yarn by Omega — For my project I used these colors:#840 (a pretty green) & #801 (a pure white)
- F Hook (5/3.75mm)
- Diagram of Celtic Knot — here
- Corkboard or foam core board (4" x 4")
- 15 straight sewing pins
- Crochet Cord: With Green color, ch 67.
Working in back bar of the ch sc in 2nd ch from hk and in each ch across. (66 sc).
Approximate length of cord = 15" - Weave Celtic Knot:
- Place diagram on corkboard and secure with pins.
- With Right Side facing up, place crocheted cord end on red star in diagram and secure with a pin.
- Continue to lay cord down in pattern of the knot following the arrows. Make sure to pass correctly at all crossings- under or over.
- Adjust knot so that all spaces and outer cord lengths are even.
- Secure all crossings with pins. Remove from corkboard, flip knot over and sew all crossings on the wrong side.
- Weave in ends.
- Circle Backing for pin:
- Work circle in a spiral using a stitch marker at beg of each round
- Round 1: With white color, make 6 sc in an adjustable ring
- Round 2: 2 sc in each sc around; (12 sc)
- Round 3: (2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc) around; (18 sc)
- Round 4: (2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 2 sc) around; (24 sc)
- Round 5: (2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 3 sc) around; (30 sc)
- Round 6: *Sc in each of next 3 sc, ch 2, sc in back bar of 2nd ch from hk*; Repeat from * to * around; work invisible join. (Cut yarn 4� from hook and remove loop from hook; insert hook into next st from wrong side of project, pull loop through project with hook making sure cut yarn tail is at back of project; YO, pull yarn tail through loop to fasten off). (10 points around circle backing)

Weaving the Celtic Knot

10-Point Pin Backing
(Optional: All finishing steps can be done with glue instead)
Secure knot piece to circle backing with matching yarn and yarn needle.
Sew felt circle on back. Sew pin back to center on back.
Optional: Glue on small gem to center of knot
