Basic Doll Pattern

Body head and legs are in one piece. Skill Level:

Finished Size:

To crochet your doll you will need.

• Selection of aluminium Hooks ranging in several sizes.
  Smaller sizes for the body parts, (3.5mm)
  and larger hook (4.00mm) can be used for the clothing.
  (I prefer the steel hooks, As I get a selection of sizes for making the tight material needed for making body parts.)
• Cream or Bone colour yarn is perfect for the body parts. I find a nice Aran weight Cream yarn Perfect for creating The skin parts of your Doll .
• The light Blue Shown is not only A popular colour Just now to Create an 'Elsa" from Frozen inspired amigurumi doll. But I love the soft sheen and feel of this yarn.
  Remember to buy your hair colour too. Hair colour is usually a beige or brown or whatever colour you would like the dolls hair to be.
• Make sure you order the correct size of Eyes needed, I always use the safety eyes.

Materials:

• Aran Weight Yarn (heavy worsted) Lily Cream & cotton
• Hook: 4mm
• Additional Supplies: Safety eyes or black yarn, Yarn for hair color.
• Stitch marker

Abbreviations:

• 2sc: increase by working 2 sc in 1 stitch

Instructions:
Note: Work will be in continuous rounds. Move stitch marker as each round is completed.

Head
• Rnd 1: 10 sc in magic circle. Pull tight. (10 sc)
• Rnd 2: 2sc in each st. (20 sc)
• Rnd 3: *2sc, sc* (30 sc)
• Rnd 4: *2sc, sc, sc (osc?) * in each stitch around (40 sc)
• Rnd 5 - 11: sc in each sc around (40 sc)
• Rnd 12: *sc2tog in next st, sc in next 5sts* repeat 5 times, sc2tog, sc in next 3 sts. (34 sc)

The back of the head is centered over the beginnings and endings of the rounds, so the face will be on the centers of the rounds. Affix safety eyes between Rnd 7 & Rnd 8 evenly appart, in the middle of those rounds. This will be the front side of the doll.
• Rnd 13: *sc in next 4 sts, sc2tog in next st.
  Repeat from * to the end. (29 sc)
• Rnd 14: *sc2tog in next st, sc in next 3 sts.
  Repeat around. sc to end.
• Rnd 15: *sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog in next st, sc in next 2 sts, Repeat from * around. (16 sc) Stuff the head at this point.
• Rnd 16: sc2tog in next st, sc in next sts* Repeat from * around, to last 2 sts, sc2tog. (12 sc)
Dolls Head complete
• Rnd 17: sc2tog, sc around to last 2 sts, sc2tog in last two sts. (10 sc)
• Rnd 18: sc around (10 sc)
• Rnd 19: *2sc (increase), sc * (15 sc)
• Rnd 20: *sc, 2sc* repeat around (22 sc)
• Rnd 21 - 26: Sc around (22 sc)
• Rnd 27: 2sc, sc in next 11 sts, 2sc, sc to end (24 sc)
• Rnd 28: sc around (24 sc)
• Rnd 29: 2sc, sc in next 11 sts, 2sc, sc to end (26 sc)
• Rnd 30 - 35: Sc around (26 sc)
Body now complete. Stuff before beginning legs.

(Do not fasten off once you find the center of the legs. You will start the first leg from here.)

Basic Doll Pattern Leg Placement

Please note: Each leg will have 7 single crochet front of leg and 7 single crochet back of leg and 1 chain 1 underneath the body, each leg has 15 sts.

Fold the piece in half across the body, (Making sure eyes are front and Centred) and count 7 stitches into the middle from the side , join yarn and chaining 1 across the underneath of dolls body and across to the other side of body, continue working in single crochet in continuous rounds.


• Rnd 1 - 20: single crochet. (If you would like your doll to have shoes, colour change to a shoe colour here at rnd 19) STUFF LEG



• Rnd 21: sc, sc2tog, Repeat around
• Rnd 22: sc2tog. Repeat around
Fasten Off.



Doll assembly

Second Leg:
Join yarn to work single crochet around in SAME pattern as before ...ensure your FIRST and LAST single crochet of leg round is before the chain 1 underneath the body and is in the SAME STITCH as 1st single crochet, and LAST single crochet of 1st leg, Work a single crochet into the chain 1 you made for the first leg to complete the round (15 sc)

Continue working as for 1st LEG

Chain 2.
• Rnd 1: 5 sc in 1st chain.
• Rnd 2: *2sc, sc* repeat around
• Rnd 3: sc around
• Rnd 4 - 22: sc around (stuff arm here)
• Rnd 23: sc2tog, around
• Rnd 24: sc2tog around until 4 sts remain.
  Finish off and cut yarn. Leave enough to attach arms to body.
