Flower Crochet Rug

Materials

• 2 skeins Lily Sugar'n Cream cotton yarn
• J hook (or that recommended on yarn label)
• stitch markers, or scraps of contrasting yarn

You will be making two passes for each round. One of half double crochets (hdcs) and one of petals.

Use stitch markers or yarn scraps to mark the first and last hdc stitches as the work will be in a spiral with NO sl st at the end of each round. On the last petel of the round, the next stitch will be a hdc, and after the last hdc, you will go directly into making a petal.

Note: This pattern does contain some errors, so you will need to make some minor adjustments to make some petal rows to come out with whole petal at the row end.

Instructions

Start with a Magic Ring.

• Round 1: 10 hdc in ring. Sl st to FLO of turning chain (10 hdc)
  Round 1 Petals (FLO): Sl st to FLO of turning chain. Ch2 in same st dc, Ch 2, sl st. (First petal made.) *Sl st in next st. In same st, Ch 2, dc, Ch 2, sl st* Repeat in each st around (10 petals)
• Round 2 (BLO — This is in the Back Loops behind the petals just created): Hdc in back loop of first st. In the same st hdc again (increase 1 st). *2 hdc in each back loop around.* (20 hdc)
  Now we make 1 petal over 2 stitches.
  Round 2 Petals (FLO): Join with a sl st to Flo of first hdc. Ch 2, dc in same st. In next st dc, Ch 2, sl st. *Sl st to next st, Ch 2 dc in same st. In next st dc, Ch 2, sl st* around. (10 larger petals)
• Round 3 (BLO): Hdc to back loop of first st. In the same st hdc again (increase 1 st). Hdc in next st. *2 Hdc in next st, hdc next st* around. (30 hdc)
  Round 3 Petals (FLO): Join with a sl st to 1st hdc, Ch 2 dc in same st. In next st, dc, Ch 2, sl st. *Sl st in next st, Ch 2, dc in same st. In next st, dc, Ch 2, sl st* around. (15 petals)
• Round 4 (BLO): Hdc to back loop of first st. In the same st hdc again. Hdc in next 3 sts. *2 hdc in next st, hdc next 3 sts* around. Hdc in last two sts. (36 Hdc)
  Round 4 (FLO): Join with a sl st to 1st hdc, Ch 2, dc in same st. In next st, dc, Ch 2, sl st. *Sl st in next st, Ch 2, dc in same st. In next st, dc, Ch 2, sl st* around. (18 petals)
• Round 5 (BLO): Hdc to back loop of first st. In the same st hdc again. Hdc in next 5 sts. *2 hdc in next st, hdc next 5 sts* around. (42 Hdc)

• Round 6: (BLO) Repeat round 5 (49 hdc)

Rows 7 — 12

New stitches (Half Treble Crochet and Treble Crochet) are introduced.
